The Holds

The Wood
  • MANA primarily uses Ash, Cherry, and Walnut. All of which are locally sourced North American hardwoods. These three woods provide unique colors and strong contrast when setting.  These woods are much stronger than poplar which is used to make most commercially available wooden climbing holds. Ash being nearly 3x stronger and Cherry and Walnut about 2x stronger than poplar.
  • Ash - Light Hues
  • Cherry - Red Hues
  • Walnut - Dark Hues
The Textures
  • Standard - comfortable and grippy.
  • Polished Dual Texture - Non climbing surfaces of the hold are sanded to a silky smooth surface providing a dual texture feel. The edges of the holds are left with standard texture to provide grip in all the right places. The polished texture brings out the true beauty of the wood and is recommended if aesthetics are important to you.
Hold Families
  • No two MANA holds are the same.
  • Most MANA holds belong to a family and a set of holds within that family.
  • Hold families have similar aesthetics. Example: Fractures, Waves, Etc.
  • Sets within the hold families contain holds that are similar in size, grip, and climbing style.
